'Occupy This Album' Available for Preorder

'Occupy This Album' is now available for preorder, featuring music from Debbie Harry, Jackson Browne, Yoko Ono, Third Eye Blind, Crosby and Nash and many more. Several of the contributors, including Joan Baez and Crosby and Nash, performed at Occupy Wall Street's Zuccotti Park site while it was still an encampment.

Proceeds from Occupy This Album will benefit the Occupy movement, which has flourished from an initial staging last year in New York City into an international grassroots effort. According to the press release, "all proceeds received from the sale of this work will go directly to the Occupy movement. . . The cause can now be found in 951 cities in 83 countries including Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Africa."

It's Official: 'Occupy This Album'

It's official: Occupy Wall Street is getting an album:

Featured will be artists who support the movement including Yoko Ono, Willie Nelson, Crosby and Nash, Devo, Jackson Browne, Debbie Harry, Joan Baez and Third Eye Blind.

Many artists will be contributing to the benefit compilation titled “Occupy This Album: a compilation of music for and inspired by the Occupy Wall Street Movement and the 99%.”

Proceeds from the record will go “directly towards the need of sustain this growing movement,” according to The Wrap website.

The full lists of artists contributing to the album are: Aeroplane Pageant, Alex Emmanuel, Black Dragon, Chroma, Cosmonaut, Crosby and Nash, Dangerfield, Devo, DJ Logic, Dylan Chambers, Global Block, Harry Hayward, Immortal Technique, Jackson Browne, Jay Samel, Jennie Arnau, Joel Rafael, Joseph Arthur, Julie B. The tents and tarps may be gone, but the Occupy Wall Street series of concerts is continuing.

Third Eye Blind and Jackson Browne, who are both currently on tour, announced they were performing for Occupy Wall Street on Wednesday night. Organizers said they were not seeking publicity for the tour, but rather have been genuinely inspired by the movement.

They have also contributed to “Occupy This Album,” a benefit compilation album in aid of the cause.

Other musicians who have performed at the plaza include David Crosby and Graham Nash, Tom Morello, Talib Kweli, Michael Franti, Pete Seegar and Arlo Guthrie.
