Members of the New York City chapter of Iraq Veterans Against the War and dozens of other uniformed veterans known as "Veterans of the 99 Percent" pause in front of the New York Stock Exchange while marching from Vietnam Veterans Plaza to Zucotti Park where the Occupy Wall Street movement is centered on November 2, 2011 in New York City. The veterans groups, which feature current and former members of the United States military, marched in support of Occupy Wall Street and to pay homage to Scott Olsen, a former Marine and Iraq War vet who sustained a skull fracture after he was injured by police at an Occupy Oakland protest.

When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?

Not soon enough!

That's what a billionaire said on CNBC this morning about the OWS protesters.

"veterans of the 99%" ... isn't that redundant?

When the OWS movement started, I posted that I thought it wouldn't/couldn't last. I'm very glad I was wrong.

To see the veterans march in support is awesome. Go OWS.

All I can say to my fellow vets that are once again putting their bodies in the line of fire for their country,

To the veterans supporting the OWS movement:
Although I have not supported many wars in our past (Viet Nam, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.) I have always supported you, the troops. You have put your lives on the line for what you have believed in and served your country with honor and distinction. Thank you.
Your presence lends credence to the movement, and is a thumb in the eye to the idiots on Fox 'News' that say the OWS protesters are nothing but a bunch of dirty, lazy, worthless hippies. Once again, you are serving your country - this time in a truly worthy cause.
I thank you again for your continued service, and wish you all the best.

So that means when people like Sarah Palin who criticize OWS they're attacking the troops too. Why do they hate America?

that easily tossed out bromide from the right wing chattering class--the ones eager to send other people to war--gets a bit more complicated for the american exceptionalist-pushers to mouth as more veterans are joining the #OWS movement.

i think frankLuntz needs to get his soft underbelly working on how to craft a message reflecting this.

it seems that some on the right only care about troops actively serving, and once one's service comes to an end so does their concern about their well-being. which is similar to the right's claim to 'support life', yes, before people are born, then, after birth, that concern plummets too.

I posted 2 days ago (open thread) that vets are committing suicide at at rate of one every 80 minutes. The VA is not working properly to help them. It was from HuffPo if you want to search it.

304th Transportation Company out of Brockton Mass! I have over 25,000 miles of hauling jp8 through out Iraq. I was very proud of going down to Wall street and Zuccotti Park in support of OWS protesters. You should have seen the way the police were looking at me the whole while! They were good though.

Id like to hook up with my brothers and sister Veterans and protest some more. I love my country enough to make it better for all!

because, for too long, corporations have hidden behind their construction of patriotism to silence the majority ... but they cannot silence you, and people will not ignore when their thugs shoot you in the head with a tear gas canister or the msm calls you lazy, a "dirty hippy" or a "trust fund baby"

and, frankly, they must be trembling in their wingtips to know that they cannot intimidate the likes of you, or count on you to abandon the cause for the sake of your personal safety and/or comfort

as a humble 99-percenter, i thank you

Good for you.

Sadly world history is to abandon Vets once they have finished serving. Been going on for centuries. They don't mention that when you sign up.

I applaud the veterans - 70% voted for democrats in 2008 and they need to vote 100% this time as they now know who is on their side, who will break this cycle of give-away to the rich and wealthy.

"To be willing to march into Hell for a Heavenly cause."

March On Brothers!

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

The best of the United States of America is the 99%! The 1% will be defeated as they very well deserve, it's just a matter of time!
The 1% greedy made their millions and billions off our Nation and it is Pay-Back Time!!

We give heartfelt Thanks to our War Veterans, and now again for their Support of OWS!
May God Bless them and keep them safe!

I was at the WTO protests in Seattle when a bunch of anarchists started busting windows with crowbars. We surrounded them and they got in a circle with their crowbars. I tried to get the Seattle police to come arrest these people that were thirty feet away and threatening violence and breaking windows... The Seattle police would not budge from their "police line", making all of us the enemy.

The Corporate Occupation of the United States

Our corporate controlled government (through corporate lobbying and election funding ) is out of the peoples control. People want government control back. Makes sense to me... I feel US corporate capitalism (corporatism) is a type of economic fascism: To have a corporate being where the chain of command eventually muddles all responsibility to any human being. These corporate beings are running your life and controlling your government. (Enough to really make an individual mad and protest.) The corporate being does not exist, and when it comes to face it's corporate responsibility, it is a piece of paper. That is plain and simply wrong. Restore capitalism to individual responsible chains of command, or this struggle will be lost. (This also includes corporate lobbying and corporate election funding, being outlawed; and a new form closer to individual control is established.)

January 20, 2012 – Move to Amend Occupies the Courts!

Move To Amend is planning bold action to mark this
notorious date — Occupy the Courts — a one day occupation
on Friday January 20, 2012, of the Federal Courts, including
the Supreme Court of the United States and as many of the
89 U.S. District Court Buildings as we can. Inspired by Dr. Cornell
West, who was arrested on the steps of the Supreme Court last
month, Move to Amend will lead the charge on the judiciary which
created — and continues to expand — corporate personhood rights.
