#J21: Occupy the Corporations

On Saturday, January 21, activists across the country working with Public Citizen will “Occupy the Corporations” in a series of demonstrations planned throughout the country, designed to expose the fraud that is corporate personhood.

The demonstrations will target corporations like Bank of America and Chevron, calling them out on "the hijacking of our democracy."

In addition to the “Occupy the Corporations” demonstrations, Public Citizen will be hosting rallies in California, Maryland, Massachusetts and Vermont with state law makers and other allied organizations to highlight the push for resolutions in those states legislatures to overturn Citizens United.

“The groundswell of national grassroots activity in support of a constitutional amendment we’re seeing is tremendous,” said Mark Hays, campaign coordinator for Public Citizen’s Democracy is for People Campaign. “With this sort of momentum, we’re ready to write the next chapter of our campaign to ensure that democracy is for people, not corporations.”

It’s time to take our democracy back.

In the course of evolution, corporations will one day be put in their place.

I probably won't be around to see it, but the fascist garbage taking place right now in this country will eventually be looked upon by future generations as some evil, twisted, Orwellian nightmare.

They will most assuredly wonder how in the hell the baby boomers ever voted these ass holes into power who did this?

If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.

is considering Larry Summers for World Bank Chief. Excellent choice Barry, you corporate stooge.

If we could go back in a time machine, knowing their plans to deregulate and grab power, Democrats would have taken strong measures to prevent this disaster we live in now. It was not fate, it was man made, and man can stop them. We must.

Dems joined the disaster train in 1980 (after Reagan's victory) when the Democratic Leadership Council decided the Dems had been "too liberal" in the 60s and 70s (code words for "supporting the Civil Rights Movement) which resulted in the Dixiecrats (once loyal Dems) jumping ship and joining the Republicans .. which they did.

To counter their loss of the Southern Dems the Northern Dems decided the route to power was to court the very same corporate base that had once been the Republican's strength.

And it finally paid off when in 1992 Clinton won back the WH after 12 years of Republicans.

And as we all know Clinton sold out the American Worker by getting NAFTA passed, then sealed the deal by abandoning Glass-Steagel late in his term.

Barry H. Obama has simply continued the same obeisance to Corporate Power.

Neither party represents the American Worker anymore.

When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?

Not soon enough!

I found this to be pretty interesting.

Today's editorial in the Los Angeles Times is ENCOURAGING occupiers to take over a beach in Malibu where the very rich, very lawyered up home owner is making it IMPOSSIBLE to get to the beach at an area that she promised would be open if she could get a permit to build her mansion:

So, it looks like the whole "occupy" movement is having repercussions in places we might never have imagined. Kudos to the Times on this one.

"The US has an army of 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and is spending $100bn a year, but has still been unable to defeat 20,000-25,000 Taliban who receive no pay at all." - Patrick Cockburn

Beaches should not be private.

That really bugs me a lot. If I were there, I'd Occupy.

Since Americans can't seem to elect politicians with integrity, I would like to take sides with the protesters and personally like to ask you to please stop giving money to our politicians.

Eventually Americans will learn to elect responsible politicians who aren't whores and double agents for you guys but in the meantime I think it would be a good idea to just stop.

thanks .... love Milquetoast
