City of Los Angeles Now Wants to Keep Occupy's 'Trash' Forever
Remember all that "trash" that remained after Occupy L.A. was evicted? City crews said that they "expected to send 30 tons of refuse to the landfill." Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said that the clean-up process "could exceed $1 million." Now the Department of Cultural Affairs General Manager, Olga Garay, has labeled the Occupy Octopus an "artifact," and has even "asked for proposals from the public regarding ways to take possession and display the art." But, Occupy L.A. wants the octopus returned to them along with other murals created by members of the group.
Unfortunately, the fate of the Occupy Octopus, a 24-by-16 piece depicting a federal reserve bank as an evil octopus, will be decided by...Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

In recent conversations regarding "violence" by Occupiers I've been quick to jump to their defense and point out that by and large what is being called "violence" by Occupiers is actually property destruction, that with only a few exceptions all the real violence - physical assault - has been by the police.
Then I started thinking about all the tents, the kitchen, the books, etc, put in dumpsters by police in NYC, in LA, in Oakland, in Denver, in how many other places, and finally I concluded that with very few exceptions nearly ALL the property damage - as well as the physical assaults - have been committed by the police .. and their bosses, the city officials.
When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?
Not soon enough!
Very informative article. FYI, there's another site on YouTube probably with some archival value with some very interesting music-video takes on the Occupy movement, designed to provide some relevant "entertainment" for the occupiers "between engagements, as the poster says.
