No expertise in oil
That would leave Chalabi, who has no expertise in oil, steering the oil industry of the country with the third largest reserves through a turbulent period of suicide bombings and frequent attacks on pipelines.
A Jordanian military court found Chalabi guilty of fraud in 1992. He denied the charges, fled Jordan and filed a law suit in the United States accusing the Jordanian government of framing him.
Lie to the administation and a certain NY Times reporter, help get us into a war, then get a promotion for it. That sounds about right.

Now if anyone can figure out this Hugh Hewitt post, please let me know. It would appear that he is trying to defend Janice Rogers Brown in her out-of-the-mainstream remarks. As it turns out, Hughie's only point is to point out certan quotes attributed to Barry Lynn. As usual since Brown's remarks are clearly an indication that she is unqualified for the job, Hewitt attacks Mr. Lynn since he can't defend the messenger. The whole point is not how disingenuous other people might be Hugh old boy, because Barry Lynn isn't up for the nomination. Its all about what Janice Rogers Brown has to say that really matters. Obviously you have a tough job in front of you, trying to defend the indefensible.

How did anyone know what the intentions of the Denver three were?

Scotty: Now, in terms of this issue, my understanding is a volunteer was concerned that these three individuals were coming to the event solely for the purpose of disrupting it. And if people are coming to the event to disrupt it, they are going to be asked to leave. There are always protest areas set up outside the events where people can express their views.
These three individuals acknowledged that they were coming to the event to disrupt it. They stated that publicly in some of the initial reports. And so my understanding is the volunteer was concerned about these individuals, and that's why he asked them to leave.
As far as I know, the three were ejected because of a bumper sticker. Even if your intentions were to disrupt the event, that still isn't proof that you actually would have. Unless of course one considers turning their back on the President as a disruption. (please correct me if I'm wrong)

More egregious, McClellan told White House reporters false information when addressing the staffer’s rationale for forcibly removing my clients…. McClellan’s statement is wrong, and the White House knows it. The Secret Service confirmed, after speaking with the mystery man in question, that the staffer removed my clients solely because of the bumper sticker on their car. This has been reported in the Washington Post and local Denver media, and has been confirmed to us directly.”
For what it’s worth, the same reporter followed up by asking if the White House has a role in directing these “volunteers.” McClellan said: “I don’t know if I’d view it that way.”
What an odd response. He never got around to saying how he does view it.

Follow up to Jon Stewarts "Gaywatch" Segment
Dogged Blog has a nice piece that dissects the discredited Paul Cameron "Same Sex marriage" study that was cited on the Daily Show episode as trying to pass of as legitimate research.
Randall Ellis of the Lesbian/Gay Rights Lobby of Texas was invited to respond, which he did, pointing out that no reputable research backed up this claim. Cut away to Stewart, who concurred, referring to the "study's" author as a "knucklehead" and mentioning the "research" was comprised of an Internet search and had been discredited. read on

OUR LADY OF THE SALT STAIN, PATRON SAINT OF THE FUTURE OF AMERICA
This last week, my humble town of Chicago, Illinois was in the miracle-generating crosshairs of The Almighty himself. I am not entirely sure if it is a sign that my metropolitan-area neighbors had done good or evil, but nonetheless, we were blessed with a salt stain, in the apparent image of The Virgin Mary herself, on the wall of an expressway underpass. People are flocking to it, camping out, buying it flowers, you name it. Its become easy fodder for talk radio humor, late night television, all as one would expect.
While any rational person can look at the image and realize the foolishness of the theory, and we all get a laugh out of a mass of people going to such extremes- the episode is, indeed, a significant representation of how centuries-old religions play out in twenty-first century America. continue reading "Our Lady of the Salt Stain"

There's a big push in the Republican party to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow foreign-born Americans to serve as president. Their poster-boy for this movement is clearly California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who they believe, based on how dim and easily-amused many Americans are, would prevail if allowed to run in 2008.
While I'm reluctant to dismiss a Schwarzenegger candidacy based on his lack of qualification and intellect – I mean, look at how George W. Bush manages to look like a genius to 50 million of our countrymen – that constitutional amendment would allow Democrats to bring someone forward who would smoke Arnold at every turn...read on

GNM Files FOIA re Moussaoui Case
Global News Matrix, a non-partisan news source, has filed a Freedom of Information Act request to the following government entities regarding the Zacarias Moussaoui trial:
- United States Attorney General
- Central Intelligence Agency
- Department of Homeland Security
- Department of Justice
- Federal Bureau of Investigation
- National Security Agency
Global News Matrix has been and will continue to follow the guilty plea of Mr. Moussaoui for the terror attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001. Global News Matrix is officially taking the position that this plea is none other than a government ploy to assign blame.
Global News Matrix today sent out a six page FOIA request to the entities listed above. In the request Global News Matrix asked for answers to questions derived from review of the Government's indictment and statement of fact, a copy of which is attached to the FOIA request.
